Alliance College-Ready Academy High School

Overlooking downtown Los Angeles on the Alliance Tajima High School campus, the new 29,325 SF, 2-story classroom building with basement was built to accommodate 460 students in grades 9-12. Located on a hill in a densely populated area and within a methane barrier zone, an even larger project challenge was presented as unmapped oil wells were discovered during construction. After adjusting the schedule to accommodate the oil well remediation process, we adopted a fast-track, double shift approach to maintain the project completion date and have the facility ready in time for the fall school start. Site work included two new asphalt and concrete surface parking lots, retaining walls, a rain water collection system, an 800 lineal feet section of the City alley, streetlights and landscaping.
